BrisAsia 2024 Promises Vibrant Celebration of Asian Culture

Get ready to welcome the Year of the Dragon with a roar! Brisbane’s iconic BrisAsia festival returns February 1-18, transforming the city into a vibrant tapestry of Asian culture.

Over 20 exciting events across 11 suburbs will showcase the best of music, dance, food and art. Festival highlights include the return of popular events like Southside by Night, Laneway ParTEA, BrisAsia Dance, BrisAsia Pop Weekend, and BrisAsia ParTEA.

There will also be new additions this year including a lively street festival in Fish Lane showcasing authentic Asian culture through art, music, and food as well as a Dumpling Festival at Southside Restaurant Fish Lane.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner says the diverse festivities celebrate Brisbane’s multicultural identity, embracing the many cultures that make the city a dynamic place to live.

“A new street festival will fill Fish Lane with authentic cultural elements, as LUSH transforms West End into a must-visit destination complete with street art, live music and delicious culinary delights,” said Cr Schrinner.

“Foodies are invited to secure their spot at Southside Restaurant Fish Lane for an all-new Dumpling Festival, where they can dine on authentic dumplings and dim sum crafted by renowned sous-chef Benny Lam.

“The 2023 event saw more than 24,000 people get involved in the cultural celebrations, and with another fantastic line up of free and affordable events, we hope to build on that great success,” he added.

Executive Producer Dr Anthony Garcia promises attendees the chance to experience world-class Asian entertainment as over 500 artists and creatives bring traditional and contemporary culture to life. With last year drawing over 24,000 festival-goers, interest is sure to be high for this can’t-miss celebration of community and culture.

Popular Brisbane Ice Cream Festival Returns to West End!

The Brisbane Ice Cream Festival has finally returned to West End after a hiatus in 2020, and with the festival comes the gathering of a vast assortment of soft serves, gelato, popsicles and other cool desserts!

From April 17-18, you’ll be able to treat your taste buds to some unconventional-yet-delectable serves and scoops from some of the best ice cream vendors in West Village.

And the best part? The tickets are FREE! With the event running the entire weekend, interested participants can register for any of three two-hour session slots per day. On both days, slots begin at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. This year, there’ll be an additional 5:00 p.m. time slot on Saturday.

A Little Something For Everyone

Are dietary restrictions getting in the way of a good time? Don’t worry. The Brisbane Ice Cream Festival’s got you covered. There will be dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan options available to any and all who attend the festival on either day; and because tickets are free, you’ll have a little more cash to treat yourself with.

Children under the age of two will also be able to enter the festival, no ticket required, so be sure to bring the entire family!

Hurry, Limited Registration Means Limited Slots!

Though festival tickets don’t cost any money, registration is still mandatory due to the COVID-19 crowd measures put in place by the Queensland Government. As a result, the number of entries is limited.

If you were too late to nab a ticket, then fear not! You could always make a post on the Brisbane Ice Cream Festival’s Facebook event page, where those who do have tickets but can no longer make it, can offer you theirs.

West End to Host the First Brisbane Ice Cream Festival

Brisbane’s first ice cream festival is fast approaching, and ice cream lovers are eagerly counting the days until Saturday, March 11.

Widely regarded as Brisbane’s foodie precinct, West End will soon become a mecca for ice cream aficionados of all ages, as they all flock towards the historic Peters Ice Cream Factory on 97 Boundary Street.

Go for that ultimate sweet fix, as the coolest vendors in town try to top each other. Wait until you see what they have in store for you at their pop-up stalls:

Here’s the deal. The Brisbane Ice Cream Festival’s Facebook event page has been swamped. 35,000 people “interested”. 8,700 “going”. You read that right. Thousands are visiting West End! What can we say, Brisbane REALLY loves her ice cream.

So, heads-up for the registration mechanics.

Entry is free. Ticket registration will open at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1. There will be three registration sessions: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Each session has a registration cap of 1,800 tickets. There is a maximum of five tickets per person.

Other Reminders

The festival organizers have announced that there is limited street parking and no on-site parking. Visitors are urged to take Translink’s bus and train service to the festival grounds. A special tie-up with Uber will give festival goers $20 off their first ride, with a dedicated pick-up and drop-off service at Boundary Street. Uber users should key in the promo code JUSTFORLICKS to avail of the promotion. The festival is not a dog-friendly event, so it’s best to leave your pets at home.
